BlogsNov 13, 2009Elisha Cuthbert and the great Grey Cup Parade route
Yes, Calgary-born Hollywood starlet Elisha Cuthbert will be quarterbacking this year's Safeway Grey Cup Parade.
Known for her starring bombshell roles as Kim Bauer in the TV series 24 and films The Girl Next Door and Captivity, Cuthbert has been chosen as grand parade marshall for the spectacle that will wind its way through downtown Calgary streets on Saturday, Nov. 28. ![]() According to Malcolm Kirk, chairman of the 2009 Grey Cup Committee, it was her Calgary roots and high profile status clinched her selection. "Elisha has wide appeal to adults and families and her participation will truly help revive the tradition of taking Canada's biggest football celebration to the streets," he said. The fact that the 26-year-old is dating Calgary Flames star Dion Phaneuf has led her to spend what seems to be as much time in chilly Cowtown as balmy Hollyhood as of late, causing Calgarians to once again claim her as their own, though she was barely born here before moving to Montreal to spend her childhood. Regardless, Cuthbert has said she's looking forward to the parade that will include 1,800 participants and plenty more spectators lining the route. "It's an incredible Canadian tradition and I'm honored," she said. Plan to get their early for front row gawking seats. So as not to hamper your Friday night party plans, the Grey Cup Parade gets going at the ripe old hour of 11 a.m. Comments:
